Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong set sights on AFCON 2025 title in Morocco
Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong says his outfit ultimate objective is to annex the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco.
The Super Eagles were runners in the last edition, after succumbing to a 2-1 defeat to host nation, Côte d’Ivoire in the final.
Few months to the commencement of the AFCON tournament in the North African country, Troost-Ekong has reiterated his outfit desire to annex their fourth title on the continent.
According to him, the experience gained in the previous tournament will be crucial for the side in their quest to secure the title this time.
“That’s the only goal,” Troost-Ekong told CAFonline. “We learned so much from the last AFCON final. …we gained experience—some of our players were in a first major final for their nation.”
The defender stressed the importance of applying those lessons. “Now the target is to get there again, use that experience, reach the latter stages and know what to do to go all the way, hopefully.”
The Three-time AFCON winners has been drawn in Group C alongside Uganda, Tunisia, and Tanzania.
The much-anticipated AFCON tournament will be held between December 2025 and January 2026.
