Tunisian officials chosen for Elite CAF Women’s Champions League preparations
Two Tunisian referees have been named by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to take part in preparations for the final phase of the 2025–2026 Women’s Champions League, marking a significant moment for Tunisia’s officiating community.
VAR referee Dorsaf Guenouati and assistant referee Houda Afine have been selected to represent Tunisia in the high-profile continental competition.
Their involvement underscores CAF’s confidence in the growing quality and professionalism of Tunisian match officials on the international stage.
The upcoming training programme, scheduled for 3–7 November, is designed to ensure match officials are fully equipped for the demands of the latter stages of the tournament.
This phase of preparation is considered essential, as CAF continues to place strong emphasis on improving refereeing standards, consistency in decision-making, and the effective use of emerging technologies such as the Video Assistant Referee system.
Guenouati, serving as a VAR specialist, will be expected to undergo advanced sessions on video review procedures, communication protocols, and decision-support tools that have become instrumental in modern football.
Meanwhile, Afine, as an assistant referee, will participate in intensive technical and physical training focused on positioning, flagging accuracy, and key moments involving offsides and boundary-line decisions.
The participation of Tunisian officials reflects both their experience and dedication, while also offering valuable exposure to high-intensity fixtures at continental level.
CAF’s selection process is widely regarded as competitive, taking into account previous performance, fitness evaluations, and the ability to adapt to evolving refereeing innovations.
This preparation event will bring together top-ranked referees from across Africa, forming a specialist group tasked with maintaining the integrity, fairness, and global credibility of the Women’s Champions League.
As the women’s game continues to gain attention and investment across the continent, CAF has repeatedly stressed that strong officiating remains central to the competition’s success and reputation.
Tunisia’s inclusion in this crucial stage highlights the nation’s ongoing contribution to African football development and provides an opportunity for its officials to showcase their expertise on one of the most prominent stages of the women’s club game.
