CAF projected to earn a whopping $112.84 million in profit from 2025 Africa Cup of Nations
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, set to be hosted by Morocco, is projected to be the most commercially successful tournament in the history of African football, with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) expected to record a profit of $112.84 million.
According to CAF’s financial projections, the tournament is forecast to generate total revenue of $191.63 million through broadcasting rights, sponsorship deals, and matchday income from ticket sales. Estimated expenses stand at $78.79 million, resulting in a record profit margin that reinforces AFCON’s position as Africa’s premier sporting event.
AFCON has evolved far beyond a football competition into a global commercial spectacle, drawing millions of viewers worldwide and significantly boosting host nations through tourism, hospitality, and infrastructure investment.
CAF officials have emphasised that revenue generated from AFCON plays a critical role in funding development projects across the continent, including youth competitions, infrastructure improvements, and coaching programmes for member associations.
Reigning champions Côte d’Ivoire will defend their title, setting the stage for a highly competitive tournament as Africa’s top footballing nations vie for glory and a share in one of the most lucrative editions in AFCON history.
The upcoming tournament, scheduled from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, will feature 24 teams competing across six Moroccan cities.
