Al Ahly extend Imam Ashour contract until 2030

Al Ahly have announced that midfielder Imam Ashour has signed a new four-season contract, keeping him at the Egyptian club until 2030.

The 28-year-old agreed the extension during a meeting with Al Ahly’s director of contracts, Essam Sarag El-Din, in coordination with football director Wael Gomaa.

Ashour’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of next season, but Al Ahly have now secured his future with the club for a further four campaigns. The announcement comes after the reigning Egyptian side rejected an offer for the player from Turkish club Konyaspor during the current summer transfer window.

Ashour joined Al Ahly in 2023 from Danish club Midtjylland. Since moving to the Cairo-based club, he has made 105 appearances in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and providing 25 assists.

He has helped Al Ahly win two Egyptian Premier League titles, two Egyptian Super Cups and one Egypt Cup. His honours with the club also include one CAF Champions League title and the Africa-Asia-Pacific Cup.

Ashour was unavailable for Al Ahly’s opening Egyptian Premier League match against Eastern Company Enppi because he was not match-fit. The club are preparing to face ZED on Friday in their second league fixture of the season.

His latest contract comes after an injury interrupted his involvement with the Egypt national team. Ashour was injured during Egypt’s last-16 match against Argentina at the 2026 World Cup.

Al Ahly’s decision to retain the midfielder follows interest from abroad, with Konyaspor having made an offer during the summer transfer window. The club chose not to sell him and have instead committed to a longer-term agreement.

Ashour has established himself as an important member of Al Ahly’s squad since his arrival from Midtjylland. His contribution in front of goal, as well as his record of assists, has made him a significant part of the team that has collected domestic and continental trophies over the past three seasons.

The new deal means Ashour is set to remain with Al Ahly through to 2030, subject to the club’s stated four-season agreement. His immediate focus will be on returning to full fitness and being available for the league meeting with ZED on Friday.
