Senegalese forward Jean Louis Diouf commits future to TP Mazembe with one-year contract extension

Senegalese forward Jean Louis Diouf has extended his stay with Congolese giants TP Mazembe after signing a one-year contract extension, journalist Astou Konaté has reported.

The 29-year-old attacker, who joined the Lubumbashi-based side in the summer of 2023, will continue to don the famous black-and-white colours for another season.

His renewal reflects the club’s confidence in his experience and attacking contribution as Mazembe aim to maintain their dominance in Congolese and continental football.

Diouf’s career has taken him across several clubs in Africa and Europe.

Before arriving in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he featured for Senegalese outfits Niayes FC and Génération Foot, where he developed a reputation for pace and technical ability.

He later had a stint with Maltese side Mosta FC before making the switch to Mazembe, one of Africa’s most successful football institutions.

Since joining the Ravens, Diouf has adapted well to the club’s demanding environment, showing versatility in the attacking line and proving to be a dependable option for the technical staff.

While his goal tally may not always dominate the headlines, his work ethic and tactical intelligence have earned praise from fans and teammates alike.

Mazembe’s decision to secure Diouf’s services for another year underlines their strategy of retaining key players to sustain stability within the squad.

The club, led by president Moïse Katumbi, has been actively preparing for the upcoming season, which will include both domestic league action and continental campaigns.

For Diouf, the extension represents both continuity and ambition.

Having settled into life in Lubumbashi, he will be eager to build on his performances from the previous season and help TP Mazembe in their pursuit of further glory.

The Senegalese forward’s commitment also highlights the growing trend of West African players finding success in Central Africa’s top leagues, contributing to the increasing competitiveness of the region’s football scene.

TP Mazembe are expected to make further announcements in the coming weeks as the club finalises preparations for the new season and looks to strengthen its squad with a mix of experience and emerging talent.
