English-Ivorian defender Marc Guehi inspired by Harry Kane’s Bayern success amid Liverpool pursuit

Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi could be tempted to follow England captain Harry Kane to Bayern Munich rather than sealing a long-anticipated switch to Liverpool.

The Abidjan-born defender has been on Liverpool’s radar since the summer, with the club reportedly tabling a £35 million offer that failed to materialise.

However, sources close to the player suggest Bayern Munich have now emerged as a serious alternative — one that Guehi finds increasingly appealing.

Reports indicate that Guehi views a move to the German champions as an opportunity to continue his development outside the Premier League spotlight while still competing at the highest level.

The Bavarian giants, led by Vincent Kompany, remain a dominant force in Europe, offering the kind of stability and prestige that few clubs can match.

Currently on international duty, Guehi has been able to observe first-hand how Bayern’s environment has elevated the performances and leadership of England captain Harry Kane.

“He’s thrived in Munich,” one source close to the player said. “It’s not about fame or money for Marc — he wants a challenge that pushes him in an elite setting.”

Liverpool remain determined to pursue the 25-year-old, with a renewed approach expected in January.

Yet, Bayern’s growing interest could complicate matters, particularly as Guehi’s contract situation at Palace draws increasing attention.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are also monitoring developments, but insiders believe Guehi could be drawn to the Bundesliga champions’ structure and success under Kompany.
