Spanish side Real Betis have confirmed that Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has sustained a thigh muscle injury following Thursday’s Europa League clash against Ludogorets Razgrad of Bulgaria.

In an official statement released on Saturday, the club revealed that Amrabat is suffering from a fascial muscle injury to the rectus femoris, caused by a heavy collision during the match.

Betis added that the 28-year-old’s return to full training will depend on the progress of his recovery in the coming days, with no specific timeline provided. The medical team will continue to assess his condition before determining when he can rejoin the squad.

The injury rules Amrabat out of Morocco’s upcoming international fixtures against Bahrain and Congo, forcing head coach Walid Regragui to consider other midfield options for the friendlies.

Amrabat joined Betis on loan from Fenerbahçe during the summer transfer window, a move intended to bring experience and stability to Manuel Pellegrini’s midfield.
