Egyptian outfit Pyramids FC moves to tie down Congo star Fiston Mayele

Egyptian Premier League outfit Pyramids have begun talks to extend the contract of Congolese international Fiston Mayele.

Mayele, considered as one of the prolific attacker on the African continent is in the final year of his contract at Pyramids FC, sparking speculations about his future at the club.

However, Pyramids FC, who are keen on keeping the enterprising attacker has stepped up in their pursuit to extend his deal in the light of his impressive performances since joining the club.

The 31-year-old joined Pyramids FC in the summer of 2023 from Tanzanian club Young Africans and quickly established himself as one of the most prominent strikers in the Egyptian league and across Africa.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Pyramids FC have moved to tie down the highly-rated forward beyond 2026. Despite not reaching an agreement for renewal, the Egyptian outfit has made an official offer to extend his contract for two additional seasons, recognizing his outstanding technical ability.

Since donning the Pyramids jersey, Mayele has proven his ability to make a difference. He has scored 45 goals and provided 8 assists in 96 appearances for the team. This season, he has scored 6 goals in 10 matches, in addition to an assist, confirming his continued impressive scoring form.

One of his most notable moments came in the Intercontinental Cup, when he scored a historic hat-trick against Al-Ahly of Saudi Arabia, leading Pyramids to a resounding 3-1 victory in Jeddah.

He continued his impressive form on the continental stage, scoring twice against Rwanda’s APEJ, giving his team a 2-0 victory in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. The team now prepares for the return leg in Cairo next Sunday, where, if they qualify, they will face Ethiopian Insurance Club in the final preliminary round.
