Algerian international Monsef Bakrar strikes again in Dinamo Zagreb victory
Monsef Bakrar continued his fine run of form in Croatia by finding the net once more during Dinamo Zagreb’s emphatic 4-1 win over Slaven Belupo on Sunday evening in Matchday 8 of the Croatian league.
The Algerian international, who started the game, struck in the 56th minute to score Dinamo’s third goal of the night.
It was his second league goal this season and his sixth in all competitions since the start of the 2025/26 campaign — underlining his growing influence at the club.
The reigning champions’ victory extended their lead at the top of the table to 19 points, three clear of second-placed Hajduk Split, reinforcing their status as the dominant force in Croatian football.
Bakrar’s latest display once again showcased the qualities that have made him one of Dinamo’s most reliable forwards this term.
His sharp movement, powerful runs in behind defences and clinical finishing have turned him into a key weapon for his coach.
With form and confidence on his side, the Algerian is emerging as a central figure in Dinamo’s pursuit of yet another league crown.
The evening was also significant for another Algerian star in the Dinamo ranks.
Midfielder Ismaël Bennacer, a summer signing, made his first start for the club and produced a composed and disciplined performance in the heart of midfield.
His display earned him a 7.9 rating from specialist website Sofascore, reflecting his smooth adaptation to his new surroundings.
Bennacer’s assured debut appearance from the start suggests Dinamo may have found another crucial piece in their midfield puzzle, complementing Bakrar’s firepower up front.
With two Algerian internationals now making their mark, Dinamo Zagreb’s “Algerian touch” could prove decisive in their efforts to dominate domestically and impress on the continental stage.
As Bakrar’s goals continue to flow and Bennacer gains rhythm, Dinamo’s ambitions for the season look increasingly secure.
Sunday’s win not only strengthened their grip on the league but also hinted at the depth of quality they can rely on as the campaign progresses.
For Dinamo Zagreb, the message from Matchday 8 was clear: their blend of experience and new talent — spearheaded by Bakrar and supported by Bennacer — keeps them firmly on course at the top of Croatian football.
