German-Ghanaian teenager Gibson Adu leaves SCR Altach just 10 days after joining from Bayern Munich
Germany-born forward of Ghanaian descent, Gibson Adu, has seen his loan deal with Austrian outfit SCR Altach being cut short.
The 17-year-old attacker joined Altach at the beginning of September in search of first-team experience, but the move collapsed due to UEFA regulations. Because of his age, the Austrian club was unable to secure a playing permit.
“Gibson said goodbye to us with tears in his eyes. Even though he was only with us for ten days, it was bitter for such a young player,” Altach coach Fabio Ingolitsch told Vorarlberger Nachrichten (via fussballtransfers.com).
Manuel Willam, assistant to Altach’s management, further explained the situation.
“We tried together with Bayern Munich, but because we’re a Category 4 club at the international level, we can’t sign players under 18. It’s a shame, but we’ll try again next year,” he said.
Adu, who is now at Bayern Munich, will continue with the youth team where his talent is being developed.
