French-Congolese striker Arnaud Kalimuendo signs five-year deal with Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of French-Congolese striker Arnaud Kalimuendo from Stade Rennais on a five-year contract, securing one of Ligue 1’s standout forwards from last season.
The 23-year-old arrives at the City Ground following an impressive 2024/25 campaign in France, where he netted 18 goals and contributed four assists in 34 league appearances. His form caught the attention of several European clubs, but Forest moved decisively to bring him to the Premier League.
“I am proud to join a club with such a history and incredible supporters,” Kalimuendo said after the move was confirmed. “I am looking forward to playing in the Premier League and at the City Ground. My goal is to reach the next level here.”
Forest’s delight at the capture
The club’s hierarchy expressed their satisfaction at sealing the deal. Ross Wilson, Nottingham Forest’s Director of Football, emphasised the long-term interest in the forward.
“We’ve been following Arnaud since his early days at PSG, through his time at Lens, and most recently at Rennes,” Wilson said. “He brings energy, versatility, and hunger, and we are excited to see him make an impact in the Premier League.”
Kalimuendo, who is capable of leading the line or operating from wide positions, will provide manager Nuno Espírito Santo with a valuable attacking option as Forest look to strengthen their squad for the challenges ahead.
A career of steady progression
Kalimuendo’s journey began at Paris Saint-Germain, where he joined the academy at the age of 10. He made his senior debut for the French champions in 2020, but with opportunities limited, he sought regular football elsewhere.
Two loan spells at RC Lens proved highly successful, as he scored 21 goals in 65 appearances and established himself as one of Ligue 1’s most promising strikers.
His performances earned him a permanent move to Rennes in 2022, where he spent three seasons, making more than 100 appearances and scoring 40 goals. He also gained valuable experience on the European stage, featuring in the Europa League with the Breton club.
Now, with a transfer to Nottingham Forest, Kalimuendo takes the next step in a career that has been marked by steady growth and consistent output. His arrival adds proven quality to Forest’s forward line and underlines the club’s ambition to compete at a higher level in the Premier League.
Kalimuendo’s debut at the City Ground will be eagerly awaited by supporters, who will hope his goalscoring instinct and versatility can help drive the team forward in the new season.
