Malick Yalcouye is set to swap Brighton for Swansea City in a season-long loan move that promises fresh excitement for the Ivorian midfielder.
The 19-year-old, who has already made waves in European football, is expected to finalise the switch within hours.
Yalcouye, an Ivory Coast Under-23 international, comes with a growing reputation after helping Sturm Graz lift the Austrian Bundesliga title last season. His 26 league appearances and Champions League outings showed maturity beyond his age, and his arrival is seen as a major boost for Swansea’s midfield options.
Head coach Alan Sheehan spoke warmly about the youngster’s decision.
“He is a player who will improve us, a player with so much energy and so highly rated,” Sheehan said.
“Some top-league clubs were after him so for him to decide to come here is wonderful. We’ll look after him.”
Yalcouye joined Brighton from Swedish side Gothenburg in 2024 for a reported £6m. Now, a new chapter in South Wales awaits.
