English Premier League outfit Brentford are leading the race to sign France-born forward of Cameroonian descent, Arnaud Kalimuendo.
According to L’Équipe, the 23-year-old is edging closer to a move away from Rennes and is likely to join the Premier League this summer. Kalimuendo, who is under contract until 2027, has already rejected an offer from Leeds United, with Brentford and Newcastle United now the remaining contenders.
The report suggests negotiations are further advanced with Brentford, although Newcastle remain in the mix. Both clubs are seeking attacking reinforcements. Newcastle have been linked with multiple forwards, while Brentford are looking to rebuild after Bryan Mbuemo’s move to Manchester United and uncertainty over Yoan Wissa’s future.
Kalimuendo enjoyed a standout campaign last season, emerging as one of Rennes’ few consistent performers in an otherwise disappointing year.
He finished the Ligue 1 season with 17 goals and three assists in 33 appearances.
