Zed FC began their Egyptian Premier League campaign in style, earning a 2-0 away win over Al Mokawloon Al Arab on Saturday evening.

It was the club’s first victory under new coach Mohamed Shawky, who stepped in this season to replace Hamada Sedky.

Shawky, once the general coach of Al Ahly, saw his team strike early when Ali Gamal converted a penalty in the 8th minute. The visitors kept pressing, and Ahmed Atef doubled the lead in the 61st minute, sealing all three points. The win puts Zed alongside Al-Masry and Zamalek at the top of the standings, giving the squad a boost of confidence for the weeks ahead.

For Al Mokawloon, coached by Mohamed Mekky, it was a tough start after their return from the second division, leaving them without points.

Earlier in Alexandria, Smouha and Tala’ea El Gaish shared a 1-1 draw. Papa Badji put Smouha ahead in the 40th minute, but Jordanian forward Ghaith Al-Maddaha levelled the score in the 51st, giving both sides a single point.
