Dutch-Congolese forward Emanuel Emegha named new Strasbourg captain ahead of 2025/26 season
Dutch-born attacker of Togolese and Nigerian descent, Emanuel Emegha, has been named Racing Strasbourg captain ahead of the 2025/26 football season.
The youngster steps into the leadership role following the departure of former skipper Habib Diarra, who secured a record-breaking transfer to English side Sunderland earlier this summer.
Another occasional captain, Andrey Santos, has also exited, returning to Chelsea after a loan spell.
Emegha, who joined Strasbourg from Austrian club Sturm Graz in 2023 for €13 million, has become a key figure at the French side. In 60 appearances, he has scored 23 goals and provided five assists.
His captaincy comes at a pivotal moment, as reports suggest the 22-year-old could be in line for a move to Chelsea next summer, with an agreement reportedly in place between the two BlueCo-owned clubs.
Emegha now prepares to lead Strasbourg through what could be his final season at Stade de la Meinau as several clubs target his summer in the summer of 2026.
