Sam Morsy bids farewell to Ipswich for Kuwaiti adventure
Sam Morsy, the heartbeat of Ipswich Town’s rise to the Premier League, is heading to Kuwait.
The 33-year-old Egyptian midfielder is finalizing a transfer to Al Kuwait SC, leaving behind a club where he wore the captain’s armband with pride and purpose.
According to Sky Sports, Morsy boarded a flight to Kuwait on Monday evening after Ipswich and Al Kuwait SC reached an agreement. The move marks the end of a defining chapter in his career and the beginning of a new journey in the Middle East.
Ipswich’s decision not to block the transfer stems from deep respect for Morsy’s leadership and role in their promotion last season. The club will waive any transfer fee, allowing him to leave freely.
The financial offer from Kuwait’s sovereign wealth fund is said to be “life-changing,” securing Morsy’s future and that of his family.
Although he had a year left on his contract, Morsy has opted for this new opportunity in the Gulf, one that offers both professional and personal reward.
