Mario Dorgeles has officially joined SC Braga in what marks the most expensive transfer in the Portuguese club’s history.
The Ivorian international arrives from FC Nordsjaelland on a five-year deal, with the final agreement sealed at €11 million, plus €2 million in potential bonuses.
The Danish club also secured a 10% sell-on clause, underlining the significance of the transfer for all parties involved.
The 20-year-old midfielder, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most promising young talents, will remain at the Estádio Municipal de Braga until at least June 2030.
His unveiling was completed on Friday, July 4, as Braga made the announcement through its official channels, putting an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the deal.
Dorgeles, who emerged through the Right to Dream Academy before making his professional debut in Denmark, expressed his excitement about the new chapter in his career.
Speaking shortly after putting pen to paper, he highlighted the ambition of the project at Braga and his desire to contribute immediately.
“I’m very grateful and very happy to be here,” he said. “I’ve already seen some of the facilities, and I’m really impressed. I used to follow the Portuguese league when I was younger. It’s a championship I really like, and I already have friends who play here.”
He continued: “Being the most expensive player in the club’s history, there’s obviously some pressure. But my main goal is to focus on the football, contribute to the team and help achieve great things both in the league and in Europe.
I believe we have the right conditions to do that. I can’t wait to get started. Thank you for the warm welcome.”
Dorgeles made a name for himself over two seasons at FC Nordsjaelland, where he featured in 83 matches, scoring three goals and providing seven assists. His versatility and tactical intelligence in midfield caught the attention of numerous scouts across Europe, but it was SC Braga that moved decisively to secure his services.
The move signals Braga’s growing ambition to cement its place among Portugal’s top sides and become a regular force in European competition.
The club is coming off a strong domestic campaign and views Dorgeles as a central piece in its long-term sporting project.
While Transfermarkt currently values the Ivorian midfielder at €4 million, the significant fee Braga has paid underscores their belief in his potential to develop into a key figure.
It also reflects the increasingly competitive nature of mid-level European clubs investing in young talent as part of broader strategic growth.
As pre-season preparations ramp up, Dorgeles is expected to join his new teammates immediately, with the coaching staff keen to integrate him into the squad’s tactical setup ahead of domestic and continental commitments.
For SC Braga, the acquisition of Mario Dorgeles is not just a record signing—it is a statement of intent. For the player, it is an opportunity to take the next step in his career and prove his worth on a bigger stage.
