Al Ahly have moved to dismiss reports linking winger Hussein El Shahat with a move away during the current summer transfer window.
The club firmly denied receiving any official offers for the experienced forward, despite swirling rumors of interest from clubs in the Gulf region.
A source close to the Cairo giants told Kooora: “Al-Shahat has a desire to go out on loan, and his position will be decided in the meeting of Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the president of the club with the Spanish manager Jose Riveiro, scheduled in principle next Saturday.”
Al-Shahat, known for his contributions in major continental campaigns, still holds a strong reputation at the club. The source added, “Al-Shahat has a great history in Al Ahly and will be treated the best of his ability, but if the manager wants to stay, this will be the final decision.”
Al Ahly recently returned to Cairo following a long 21-hour journey after concluding their Club World Cup campaign. The team finished fourth in their group with two points after draws against Inter Miami and Porto, and a loss to Palmeiras.
