Zamalek presses on in Ahmed Mostafa Zizo dispute as case moves to new committee

Ahmed Mostafa Zizo

Zamalek’s push for justice in the controversial transfer of Ahmed Mostafa Zizo has taken a new turn after the Appeal Committee of the Egyptian Football Association referred the case to the Players Affairs Committee.

The Cairo giants lodged an official complaint challenging a June decision by the Disciplinary Committee, which claimed it lacked the authority to examine Zamalek’s grievance. The issue revolves around Zizo, who was sidelined from training starting April 8 and later joined fierce rivals Al Ahly.

Zamalek insists that the absence of the winger during a critical part of the season caused the club serious harm, prompting them to act.

Now, the matter will be handled by the Players Affairs Committee, deemed the rightful authority under the current regulations.

Zamalek had initially submitted its complaint on May 1, arguing that proper sanctions should be applied based on league rules.

The Appeal Committee added that once the Players Affairs Committee delivers its ruling, Zamalek can return to file an appeal if unsatisfied with the outcome.

The legal battle over Zizo’s departure is far from over.
