Within the walls of Wydad Athletic Club, a source revealed the latest updates on Fouzi Benzarti, who has been absent from leading the “Red” team from the substitute bench during this season’s championship due to a previously imposed suspension.
A source from within the management of Wydad Athletic Club, in communication with “Hesport,” clarified that Fouzi Benzarti would be at the helm of the team during the upcoming derby, making a return from the substitute bench.
However, no further details were provided regarding whether the team had obtained a license from the Professional League or not.
The Central Disciplinary and Sportsmanship Committee, affiliated with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, had suspended Fouzi Benzarti for six matches, along with a fine of 50,000 dirhams.
This penalty stemmed from his expulsion during the match between the “Red” team and Moghreb Tetouan on August 1, 2021, in the semi-finals of the Throne Cup.
The suspension was also a result of his disrespect towards the refereeing crew, led by Nabil Benrakhia, and his non-compliance with the referee’s decisions, coupled with exaggerated protests.
Wydad Athletic Club’s management had recently appointed Fouzi Benzarti as the head coach, succeeding the former coach Adel Ramzy.
He led the team in the match against Simba SC from Tanzania, part of the group stage of the African Champions League.
However, he was unavailable for league matches due to the imposed suspension.
