Al Ahly have reportedly punished Trezeguet after failing to convert a penalty kick against Inter Miami in their FIFA Club World Cup opener.
The Egyptian giants started life under Riveiro with a goalless draw against Miami in their Club World Cup opener at the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.
Ahly were awarded a penalty five minutes before the break when Zizo was brought down in the box.
However, Trezeguet stepped up to take the penalty after a reported argument with striker Wissam Abu Ali, but the penalty was eventually saved by Inter goalkeeper Oscar Ustari.
The club’s sporting director, Mohamed Youssef, has decided to fine Trezeguet in accordance with the club’s internal regulations according to report.
The report adds that the Egypt international accepted the punishment and apologised to the coach and the rest of the team.
Al Ahly will hope to secure their first win of the tournament when they face Brazilian side Palmeiras Sports Society on Thursday, June 19 at the MetLife Stadium with kick off scheduled at 16:00 GMT.
