Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle justifies inclusion of 10 Nigerian League players in squad for Unity Cup
The head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Sekou Chelle, has revealed why he decided to give call-ups to 10 players from the Nigerian Premier League for the 2025 Unity Cup.
The coach has handed several call-ups to local players to feature in the upcoming four-nation tournament and the friendly match against Russia.
Speaking in a pre-match interview ahead of the semi-finals of the Unity Cup against Ghana, Coach Eric Chelle said he invited a lot of Nigerian League players because it is important to give them the chance to show what they can do.
“We have a lot of players back home in the Nigerian League; we need to give these players the opportunity to show us their quality,” Coach Eric Chelle said.
The 2025 Unity Cup semi-final encounter between Nigeria and Ghana is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, May 28.
The match will kick off at 6 pm at the Brentford Community Stadium.
