French-Congolese goalkeeper Steve Mandanda will leave Stade Rennais FC at the end of the 2024/25 football season.
The contract of the 40-year-old shot-stopper will end in June this year. Upon expiry, the club will allow him to leave.
Mandanda joined Stade Rennais FC in 2022 as a free agent following his departure from Marseille when his contract expired.
Since he arrived at Rennais, the goalkeeper has played a key role for the team, playing in 17 French Ligue 1 matches in the 2024/25 football season.
However, his position as first-choice goalkeeper was recently overtaken following the club’s €15 million signing of Brice Samba from Ligue 1 rivals RC Lens during the winter transfer window.
According to sources, Rennais president, Arnaud Pouille, has personally informed Mandanda of the club’s decision not to renew his contract.
Despite his demotion, the veteran shot-stopper remains in good spirits and continues to maintain a positive relationship with head coach Habib Beye.
Checks have revealed that Steve Mandanda has interest from several clubs in the French Ligue 1 and the Ligue 2. The goalkeeper will assess his options and decide on his next move when he parts ways with Stade Rennais FC.
