Arsenal in final talks with Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey over contract extension amid multiple interest

Arsenal have entered late-stage negotiations with Thomas Partey as they look to secure the midfielder’s future, according to Football Insider.

Partey, 31, is out of contract this summer after joining the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in 2020.

With the transfer window approaching, the Ghana midfielder has been heavily linked with moves to Barcelona, Juventus, and clubs in Saudi Arabia.

However, speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior reporter Pete O’Rourke revealed that Arsenal have reopened talks with Partey, signalling a change of heart.

The club, previously prepared to let him leave on a free, now appears keen to retain his services.

This shift in stance follows a series of strong performances from Partey since his return from injury. His form has been influential in Arsenal’s midfield, prompting the club to consider offering him a new deal.

Partey has made 47 appearances across all competitions this season and remains a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s squad.

His absence was notable during Arsenal’s recent Champions League loss to PSG, where the midfield struggled to gain control. He is expected to be back in the starting XI for the second leg at the Parc des Princes.

While Partey is settled in North London and open to a two-year extension, he is also weighing up interest from abroad and could move on if a new agreement isn’t reached.
