The third round of Group B fixtures at the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations takes centre stage on Sunday in Cairo, with Morocco taking on Nigeria in a top-of-the-table showdown and Tunisia seeking redemption against Kenya.

Morocco and Nigeria, both on three points after winning their respective opening matches, meet at 8 p.m. local time in what promises to be a defining contest in the group.

Morocco edged Kenya 3-2 in an intense opening clash, while Nigeria narrowly defeated Tunisia 1-0.

With just one team guaranteed to progress directly, Sunday’s fixture could determine who secures early passage to the quarter-finals.

However, Morocco will be without two key players—Othmane Maama and Mohammed Aït Boudlal—whose absences could prove crucial in a match of such magnitude.

Despite these setbacks, the North Africans remain confident in their depth and strategy as they look to hold off a Nigerian side known for its physical strength and structured gameplay.

For the Flying Eagles of Nigeria, the encounter is equally vital.

Coach Aliyu Zubairu has already hinted at tactical changes, emphasising a need for improved fluidity and composure following their narrow opening win.

The West African giants will aim to impose their style and secure three points to take control of the group.

Earlier in the day, at 5 p.m. local time, Tunisia will meet Kenya in a clash that could determine the fate of both sides in the tournament.

Tunisia, bottom of the group following their defeat to Nigeria, are under pressure to bounce back.

A second straight loss would place the Carthage Eaglets in serious danger of early elimination.

Despite the group stage format allowing room for third-placed teams to qualify, Tunisia’s margin for error has now evaporated.

Their challenge will be to overcome a Kenyan side that, although beaten by Morocco, showed attacking promise and remains in contention for qualification.

Kenya, playing with energy and discipline in their opening fixture, will look to capitalise on Tunisia’s shaky start and pull themselves back into the running for a knockout place.

Sunday’s Group B schedule in Cairo:

  • 5 p.m. local time: Kenya vs Tunisia
  • 8 p.m. local time: Morocco vs Nigeria

As the group stage enters a pivotal phase, all four teams know what is at stake.

Victory will edge one step closer to continental glory; defeat could spell an early exit.
