France defender of Lebanese and Cameroonian descent, William Saliba is confident Arsenal will overcome PSG to reach the final of this season’s UEFA Champions League.
The centre-back was in action for the Gunners on Tuesday night when the team suffered a 1-0 defeat to PSG in the first-leg of their semi-final tie in the European inter-club competition.
Speaking in a post-match interview, William Saliba said the tie is not over despite the first-leg setback.
He expressed disappointment but assured fans that the team will fight to turn things around in the second leg.
“We’re a bit disappointed to have lost and conceded so early. We managed to recover a bit after that, but we suffered a lot in the first 20 minutes. We were chasing the ball a lot,” said Saliba.
The defender continued, “We played better in the second half. The match isn’t over. We hope to win at the Parc des Princes. We weren’t surprised by PSG, we knew they were a strong team. We got a bit overwhelmed at the start and didn’t do things well.”
The reverse fixture of the UEFA Champions League semi-final tie between Arsenal and PSG will be played on Wednesday, May 7.
