President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has stepped down from his role as President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
Okraku’s resignation comes after he was appointed as the 2nd Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The dual demands of the new continental role and his ongoing leadership at the GFA prompted a strategic decision to relinquish the WAFU portfolio, ensuring each office receives the attention it deserves.
It is believed that Mr Okraku wants to focus on his new role as CAF Vice President, while leaving the room for other people to lead the zone.
During his tenure at WAFU Zone B, Okraku spearheaded several initiatives, including the creation of junior competitions for countries within the zone.
Reflecting on his time with the union, Okraku expressed gratitude to the WAFU team for their support and dedication.
He reaffirmed his continued commitment to the growth of football in West Africa, even as he shifts his focus to broader responsibilities within CAF.
His departure sets the stage for new leadership to steer WAFU Zone B into its next phase of growth, building on the structures and relationships Okraku helped establish.
