Zamalek are enjoying a winning week after confirming an agreement to postpone their Egyptian Cup final clash with Pyramids.
The White Knights, led by club president Hussein Labib, have moved swiftly to support Egyptian football while also securing a delay that could work in their favor.
Pyramids had raised concerns about the original 20 May final date, as it clashed with preparations for their CAF Champions League final against South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns on 24 May. In a show of good sportsmanship, Zamalek congratulated Pyramids for reaching the African final after their hard-fought win over Orlando Pirates.
In an official letter, Zamalek announced their willingness to push back the domestic final, stating it was in the best interest of Egyptian football and a gesture to maintain strong ties between the two clubs.
However, Zamalek proposed that the new date be set for 6 June, after Pyramids complete their second-leg match in early June. The move gives Zamalek additional time to prepare for the Cup final, boosting their hopes of adding another trophy to their proud record.
