Victor Osimhen’s future remains uncertain despite a stellar campaign with Galatasaray. The Nigerian striker has impressed in the Turkish Süper Lig, but with his loan deal set to expire, speculation over his next move is intensifying.
Former Nigeria international Obafemi Martins has weighed in on the discussion, predicting that Osimhen will soon join one of Europe’s elite clubs.
Osimhen’s Impact at Galatasaray
Osimhen, 26, was loaned to Galatasaray at the start of the season after falling out of favour at Napoli under Antonio Conte.
Since arriving in Istanbul, he has been in prolific form, scoring 23 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions. In the league alone, he has netted 20 goals and provided four assists in just 22 matches, underlining his effectiveness in front of goal.
Despite his success in Turkey, Osimhen is set to return to Napoli in June, where his contract runs until 2026.
However, it appears unlikely that he will play for the Italian side again, prompting speculation over his next destination.
Obafemi Martins Backs Osimhen for a Major Move
Speaking to Africafoot, former Inter Milan and Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins expressed confidence that Osimhen will secure a move to a top European club this summer.
“Victor is having an incredible season. He’s a world-class striker with all the qualities you need—he’s tall, powerful, and intelligent with his movement.
Whether it’s link-up play, counterattacks, or creating space, he knows how to position himself. Most importantly, he’s clinical in front of goal and can score from almost anywhere,” Martins said.
“Given his form, he won’t have any trouble adapting to a big club. I know several top teams are closely monitoring him, and that can only work in his favour.”
A Key Figure for Nigeria’s World Cup Hopes
Beyond club football, Osimhen remains a crucial part of the Nigerian national team’s ambitions. Martins believes his current form will play a key role in helping the Super Eagles secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
“He is our number one attacking asset. Victor is central to new coach Eric Sekou Chelle’s plans, and his confidence right now will be invaluable for Nigeria. His performances at club level will undoubtedly influence his international form.”
Potential Destinations: Premier League or Paris?
Osimhen’s name has been linked with multiple clubs in recent months. Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in bringing him to the Premier League, while Paris Saint-Germain and clubs from the Saudi Pro League have also emerged as potential suitors.
Last week, Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu confirmed that five major European clubs are in the race to sign the Nigerian forward.
In an interview with Fanatik, he revealed that Osimhen is expected to make his decision public next month.
“Victor will announce his decision in April. At the moment, five of the biggest clubs in the world are after him.
His arrival at Galatasaray was a dream—he came, he played, and he’s enjoying his time here. There were transfer talks in January, but he stayed. He really likes it here,” Kavukcu stated.
“Right now, he is the player every club dreams of. While our focus remains on the league title, we have not yet held direct discussions with him regarding his future.”
No Official Talks with Manchester United Yet
Despite persistent rumours linking Osimhen to Old Trafford, reports suggest there have been no official negotiations between Napoli and Manchester United.
With the summer transfer window approaching, the Nigerian striker is expected to be one of the most sought-after names in European football.
As Galatasaray prepares for their upcoming derby against Besiktas, all eyes remain on Osimhen—not just for his performances on the pitch, but also for what promises to be one of the summer’s most high-profile transfer sagas.
