Mohamed Salah has carved his name deeper into Liverpool’s history, overtaking Gordon Hodgson to become the club’s third-highest goalscorer of all time.
The Egyptian forward reached the milestone after calmly slotting home a penalty against Southampton, taking his total tally for the Reds to 242 goals across all competitions.
Next in his sights is club legend Roger Hunt, who netted 285 times for Liverpool. Closing that gap would require Salah to score another 43 goals, a challenge that suggests he would need to remain at Anfield for at least another season.
At the top of the list sits Ian Rush, whose towering record of 346 goals remains unmatched—still over 100 ahead of Salah’s current count.
The Egyptian Football Association joined in the celebration, hailing his achievement on social media.
Their post read: “The Egyptian king plays to the tunes of history 😍 The captain of our national team, Mohamed Salah, is the most foreign player to score goals in the history of the EPL ©️🇪🇬”
Mo is now up to third in our all-time scorers list 👏
