Algerian club MC Algers have confirmed the inclusion of former Ivory Coast youth midfielder Mohamed Zougrana in the Burkina Faso squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers this month.
The Stallions of Burkina Faso will play Djibouti and Guinea-Bissau in the fifth and sixth rounds of the qualifying series.
Despite featuring for Ivory Coast at the youth level, the enterprising midfielder has switched allegiance to represent his native country at the international level.
“The management of the Mouloudia Club of Algiers received a summons from the Burkinabe Football Federation, to include midfielder Mohamed Zougrana to represent the Burkina Faso national team.” wrote the club.
Zougrana is expected to play a huge role for the Burkina Faso national team as they seeks to secure qualification to the World Cup to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
The 23-year-old has made 22 appearances this season, providing three assists across the period.
Born on October 29, 2001 in Ivory Coast, Mohamed Zoungrana began his professional career at SO Armée in 2020, before joining ASEC Mimosas in 2021. In July 2023, he signed with MC Alger for four years, where he quickly established himself as a key element of the team.
