Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Hugo Ekitike has stressed that he is determined to continue working hard for a call-up into the France senior national team.
Born in France to a French father and a Cameroonian mother, Hugo Ekitike is eligible to play for both France and Cameroon.
It, however, appears he has his mind made up on playing for the French national team.
Speaking to L’Équipe in an interview, Hugo Ekitike said playing for the French national team is his goal.
He has indicated that he remains focused and is working hard to earn the national team call-up from head coach Didier Deschamps.
“It’s the coach who decides. I focus always on how to do more to one day get there.
“We are perhaps the best nation in the world, places are expensive, you have to earn it. I see it as the Holy Grail. The French team represents everything,” Hugo Ekitike said.
Hugo Ekitike, 22, has played for the France U20 and U21 national teams in the past.
This season, he has scored 13 goals and provided three assists for Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga after making 23 appearances.
