Crystal Palace winger Romain Esse is eager to help his team advance in the FA Cup as he faces his former club Millwall in today’s fifth-round clash.
Esse, who made the switch from Millwall to Palace on January 18, signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with the Eagles. The transfer fee was undisclosed but reportedly reached £12 million, with potential add-ons bringing it to £14.5 million. He made an instant impact, scoring with his first touch for Palace in a 2–1 Premier League defeat to Brentford on January 26.
“I’m hoping we just get the job done,” he told the club’s website. “And hopefully get into the next round. It’s always good to see your old mates and where you came from, but on the day I’ll just be thinking about doing everything to help us progress to the next round.
“They shaped me into the player I am today, but now I’m at Palace and I just want to give my all for Palace.”
Esse knows the atmosphere will be intense, but he’s focused on proving himself to the Palace supporters.
