Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller has issued a passionate call for unity after his side’s 1-1 draw against Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League.
Following the stalemate in the highly anticipated derby, Al Ahly fans voiced their frustration over the team’s performance. In response, Koller shared a message on Instagram, acknowledging the emotions surrounding the club while urging supporters to stand behind the team.
“Football is emotion, football is passion,” Koller wrote. “For this reason, I understand the criticism and high expectations of Al Ahly fans. This club lives on championships, and that makes it very special.”
He emphasized the difficulty of making in-game decisions, stating, “Criticism after the match is always easy, but who has the courage to take responsibility before it?”
Koller defended his approach, highlighting the meticulous preparation that goes into each game. “Marcel Koller analyzes all the details, studies opponents, and makes decisions to win—not for a draw or a loss,” he added.
Despite the draw, Koller remains confident. “We have not lost anything. The season is long, and we need you! Because what distinguishes Al Ahly is the power of the best fans in the world.”
Al Ahly currently sits second in the league with 33 points, while Zamalek follows in third with 28.
