US Concarneau have been dealt a significant setback with defender Amadou Seydi sidelined for the remainder of the season following an injury sustained during last week’s clash against Nîmes.

The 27-year-old, who has been a crucial figure in the Thoniers’ backline, will now miss the vital final stretch of the National campaign.

The Breton club confirmed the news ahead of their 22nd-round fixture against Valenciennes, leaving head coach Stéphane Le Mignan with a defensive dilemma as his side battles for stability in the league.

Seydi’s absence strips Concarneau of one of their most reliable defensive assets at a critical stage of the season.

“Amadou, we are all with you in this difficult time. Courage and get well soon!” the club expressed in a heartfelt message shared on its official X account, underlining the close-knit nature of the squad and their support for the player during his recovery.

Seydi, who joined US Concarneau last summer from Paris 13 Atletico, quickly cemented his place in the starting lineup, bringing stability and experience to the heart of the defense.

His transition from National 2 to the higher level was seamless, as he became a consistent presence in Le Mignan’s plans, amassing 18 league appearances this season.

Known for his composure under pressure and ability to read the game, Seydi has been instrumental in Concarneau’s defensive structure.

His physicality in aerial duels and leadership at the back have been key to several clean sheets, and his absence now leaves a gap that will be difficult to fill.

The injury occurred during a hard-fought encounter against Nîmes, where Seydi was forced off the pitch after a collision that left the club’s medical team concerned.

Subsequent examinations confirmed the severity of the issue, ruling him out until the end of the current campaign.

For Concarneau, this development comes at a crucial time. Positioned in the thick of the National standings, the club is locked in a competitive battle to climb the table, and Seydi’s absence will require tactical adjustments.

Le Mignan now faces the task of reshuffling his defensive setup, possibly turning to less experienced players or adapting the formation to maintain defensive solidity.

The timing of the injury adds to the challenge, as the club prepares to host Valenciennes, a fixture that now carries added pressure. Concarneau will look to rally around Seydi’s absence, using it as motivation to push forward in the remaining matches.

Seydi’s season may be over, but his impact on the squad remains evident. His leadership both on and off the pitch has been praised by teammates and coaching staff alike, and the club’s public message reflects the high regard in which he is held.

The road to recovery will be long, but Concarneau’s show of solidarity highlights their commitment to supporting Seydi through his rehabilitation.

As the club navigates the challenges ahead, they will aim to honor their sidelined defender’s contributions with strong performances in the closing stages of the season.
