CAF welcomes Swiss Prosecutor’s decision to stop Veron Mosengo-Omba investigation

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) welcomes the decision of the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office to halt investigations against its Secretary General, Veron Mosengo-Omba.

This decision reaffirms CAF’s dedication to maintaining the highest standards of ethics, transparency, and governance – principles that have been firmly entrenched under the leadership of President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

Since his appointment in 2021, Dr. Motsepe has spearheaded a transformative agenda aimed at elevating the integrity and professionalism of CAF’s operations.

His unwavering commitment to ethical practices has fostered a culture of accountability within the organization, ensuring that all activities align with global governance standards.

The decision by the Swiss authorities to discontinue the case underscores the organization’s adherence to these principles.

Mosengo-Omba’s full cooperation throughout the investigation reflected his personal commitment to transparency, mirroring the values that CAF upholds.

“CAF welcomes the decision of the Swiss Public Prosecutor’s Office and is pleased that there continues to be adherence and compliance within CAF and the CAF Secretariat with the culture and commitment to ethics, transparency and governance that was introduced since the Presidency of Dr Patrice Motsepe,” CAF said in a statement.

This outcome represents more than just the resolution of a high-profile case; it is a testament to the significant strides CAF has made in ensuring accountability across all levels of its operations.

It also reinforces the trust of stakeholders, partners, and fans in CAF’s mission to promote the growth and development of African football while adhering to ethical standards.

Under Dr. Motsepe’s leadership, CAF, remains dedicated to being a global leader in governance and integrity in sports.
