Al Ahly’s Reda Slim has suffered a major setback during the team’s clash with CR Belouizdad.
The 25-year-old Moroccan striker, who had been included in Marcel Koller’s starting lineup for the third day of the CAF Champions League group stages, was forced off the pitch after just 41 minutes of play. Contrary to expectations, the substitution wasn’t tactical—it was due to injury.
The club has now revealed that Slim is dealing with a serious issue. According to Al Ahly’s medical team, the forward has sustained a partial tear in the cartilage of his left knee. “Medical examinations undergone by Reda Slim revealed a partial tear in the outer cartilage of the left knee. He will undergo new examinations in the coming hours to decide on the healing protocol,” explained the club’s doctor.
Despite Slim’s injury, Al Ahly emerged victorious, securing a dominant 6-1 win over CR Belouizdad, and claiming the top spot in Group C with 7 points.
