Al-Ahly goalkeeper, captain Mohamed El-Shennawy, and midfielder Emam Ashour have resolved their differences following a recent altercation.
The reconciliation took place during the team’s training session on Monday.
According to Ahly TV, a locker-room session was held to clear the air, during which Emam Ashour apologized to El-Shennawy. The two later appeared together during training in a public show of unity, signalling an end to the dispute.
The disagreement originated when El-Shennawy objected to Ashour’s behaviour after the midfielder expressed frustration at not being included in the lineup for Al-Ahly’s CAF Champions League match against Stade d’Abidjan in Ivory Coast.
Following the incident, Al-Ahly management imposed a one-million-pound fine on Ashour and suspended him from group training for a week. As a result, the player was excluded from the squad for Sunday’s Egyptian Premier League match against Al-Bank Al-Ahly, which ended in a goalless draw.
The resolution of the conflict is a positive step for Al-Ahly as the club seeks to maintain harmony within the squad amid a demanding schedule of domestic and international competitions.
