OGC Nice salvaged a 1-1 draw against FC Nantes on Sunday, thanks to a crucial second-half equaliser from Ivorian striker Evann Guessand. The result, coming on the 8th day of Ligue 1, ensured the Aiglons walked away with a valuable point from their visit to the Stade de la Beaujoire.

Nantes had taken the lead in the second half, with Matthis Abline breaking the deadlock and putting the hosts ahead.

The forward’s goal gave Nantes a much-needed advantage as they looked to claim all three points at home.

For a while, it seemed as though Nantes were on course to secure the win, with Nice struggling to break through their solid defence.

However, Nice’s persistence paid off in the 72nd minute when Guessand stepped up to bring his side level.

The Ivorian forward latched onto a well-placed ball and calmly slotted it past the goalkeeper, notching his fourth goal of the season.

His strike breathed new life into the game, as Nice pressed forward in search of a potential winner.

Guessand’s equaliser was a significant moment for the visitors, who had found themselves on the back foot for much of the match.

His ability to come through in key moments has become a valuable asset for Nice this season, and his fourth goal of the campaign once again demonstrated his knack for finding the back of the net when it matters most.

Despite a late push from both sides, neither team was able to grab a decisive goal, and the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

For Nice, the result sees them remain mid-table, sitting 8th in Ligue 1 with 10 points, while Nantes continue to search for consistency in their campaign.

Evann Guessand’s performance was a standout, with his equaliser rescuing a point for his team and underlining his growing influence in the squad.

As Nice looks ahead to the rest of the season, Guessand’s form will be crucial in their bid to climb the Ligue 1 standings.

Nantes, meanwhile, will rue missed opportunities to secure all three points, but will take some comfort in avoiding defeat.

Both teams will now shift focus to their upcoming fixtures, with Nice aiming to build on this hard-fought draw and Nantes looking for a much-needed win to boost their campaign.
