Eight teams secure spots for AFCON 2025 in Morocco
The fourth round of qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has concluded, resulting in eight teams securing their places in the prestigious tournament.
The competition is set to be hosted by Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Morocco automatically qualified as the host nation, ensuring their participation in the upcoming edition of the continental showpiece.
Joining them are several other football powerhouses, as the latest round of matches proved decisive for some of Africa’s top teams.
Egypt, the most successful nation in AFCON history with seven titles, booked their spot after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mauritania in their fourth qualifying match.
Meanwhile, Algeria also confirmed their participation with a crucial 1-0 win on the road against Togo, adding to the growing list of qualified teams.
Other teams that have secured qualification include Cameroon, Senegal, Angola, Burkina Faso, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Each of these nations earned their place after a series of consistent performances throughout the qualifiers, ensuring they would be among the 24 teams competing in Morocco.
The complete lineup of teams for the 2025 AFCON will be finalized after the fifth and sixth rounds of the qualifying campaign, set to take place during the international break in November.
With 16 more spots up for grabs, anticipation is building as teams across the continent vie for a chance to compete on one of African football’s biggest stages.
The road to Morocco continues, but for now, the early qualifiers can celebrate their achievements, knowing they will be part of a tournament that promises to bring together the best of African football talent and passion.
