Egyptian football club Zamalek has officially submitted a bid to acquire Swedish striker Carlos Strandberg from Turkish side Hatayspor, according to reports from Turkish sports outlet Sports Digital.
The White Knights are actively seeking to strengthen their attack for the upcoming season, with Strandberg emerging as a prime target.
The 28-year-old forward has also caught the attention of another Egyptian club, Al Ahly, making Zamalek the second club from Egypt to show interest in the Swedish international.
Strandberg’s future at Hatayspor has come into question following the club’s recent signing of Vincent Aboubakar from Beşiktaş.
The arrival of the Cameroonian striker has sparked speculation that Strandberg may be looking for a new club.
His agent recently confirmed that there is pressure on the player to explore other options.
Since joining Hatayspor at the start of the previous season, Strandberg has been a key figure for the team.
He has found the back of the net 13 times in 40 appearances across all competitions.
This season, he has maintained his impressive form, scoring two goals in four matches, including a brace against Antalyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig.
Strandberg boasts a varied career, having played in multiple countries, including Sweden, Russia, Belgium, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
He has a league title with Malmö FF in Sweden and won the Qatar Cup with Al Sailiya.
On the international stage, Strandberg excelled at youth level for Sweden, where he became the joint top scorer with 13 goals.
He is also eligible to play for Mozambique due to his heritage.
Zamalek currently has five foreign players on its roster: Seifeddine Jaziri, Hamza Mathlouthi, Samson Akinyoola, Konrad Michalak, and Mahmoud Bentayg.
According to league regulations, the club would need to release one of these international players to make room for Strandberg, should the transfer go through.
The Cairo-based club has been active in the transfer market, having already secured the signatures of Konrad Michalak, Mahmoud Bentayg, Omar Faraj, Mohamed Hamdi, and Sidy Ndiaye in the current transfer window.
These moves signal Zamalek’s intent to build a competitive squad for the upcoming season.
Zamalek’s pursuit of Strandberg indicates their desire to add more firepower to their squad as they prepare for domestic and continental competitions.
Whether the Swedish striker will make the move to Cairo remains to be seen, but his addition would undoubtedly bolster Zamalek’s attacking options for the new season.
