Zamalek ready to pay fees owed former defender Yasser Hamad to end registration ban
Egyptian giants, Zamalek SC, are ready to settle the fees owed to former player Yasser Hamad to end FIFA’s registration ban on the club.
The club confirmed on Wednesday, May 28, that the registration suspension, which was revealed through FIFA’s official portal, stemmed from unpaid dues owed to the Palestinian defender.
Amr Adham, a member of Zamalek’s board of directors, disclosed that the club was hit with a three-period registration ban due to the unresolved financial matter.
He stated that the amount owed to Hamad stands at approximately 1.7 million Egyptian pounds and assured that payment would be made on Thursday, May 29, to end the crisis.
This is not the first time Zamalek has faced sanctions due to outstanding payments. The club previously managed to settle dues owed to former head coach Jaime Pacheco, estimated at around one million euros.
In another case, they also cleared payments of nearly $983,000 to former Moroccan striker Khalid Boutaib.
With the planned settlement of Yasser Hamad’s dues, Zamalek aims to bring a swift resolution to the issue and restore their ability to register new players ahead of the 2025/26 football season.
