Zamalek close in on foreign coach as club finalises pre-season plans
Zamalek are on the verge of appointing a new foreign head coach, with the Egyptian giants expected to make an official announcement in the coming days as preparations for the 2026/27 season gather space.
The White Knights have reportedly made significant progress in negotiations with their preferred candidate and are now putting the finishing touches on an agreement that will usher in a new era at the club.
The appointment is expected to be one of the club’s first major decisions ahead of the new campaign, with the incoming manager set to oversee Zamalek’s domestic and continental ambitions.
As part of their preparations for the season, Zamalek will begin their pre-season programme in Egypt before travelling abroad for a training camp.
The club is currently considering offers from Saudi Arabia, Spain and Turkey to host the overseas camp, with a final decision expected to be made soon. The training camp will provide the new coach with an opportunity to assess the squad, implement his tactical philosophy and prepare the players for the challenges ahead.
Meanwhile, Moataz Gamal is set to leave the club after Zamalek decided to move in a different direction with the appointment of a new head coach.
Despite his departure, the club is expected to honour all its financial commitments to the coach, including paying his outstanding dues and his league title bonus.
Gamal had attracted interest from other clubs in recent weeks but was keen to remain at Zamalek after enjoying a successful spell with the team. However, the club’s football management has opted to appoint a new manager as part of its plans for the upcoming season.
With the coaching situation close to being resolved, Zamalek’s focus will soon shift to strengthening the squad and completing their pre-season preparations as they aim to compete strongly for domestic silverware and make a significant impact in continental competitions during the 2026/27 campaign.
