Zamalek are awaiting a decision from the International Sports Court on their appeal against a ruling that awarded Moroccan player عبد الحميد معالي $611,000.
Documents said to relate to the case have recently circulated on social media, leading the club to clarify the current position of the dispute.
A Zamalek source told FilGoal: “We submitted an appeal on 30 July against the ruling confirming the Moroccan player عبد الحميد معالي’s entitlement to receive $611,000.
“The International Sports Court is currently considering Zamalek’s appeal, after the required procedures were completed and the prescribed fees were paid. The court will appoint an arbitrator after the other party, عبد الحميد معالي, was notified.”
The source said the documents being shared in the media did not represent a new development in the case.
“The reasoning that has recently appeared in the media relates to the events and timeline of the case since معالي terminated his contract earlier in the year,” the source added.
“Zamalek’s current board is handling this matter, along with all other cases, within the proper and established legal framework in a way that protects the club’s rights.”
عبد الحميد معالي joined Zamalek at the beginning of the 2025-26 season but terminated his contract unilaterally because of delays in receiving his financial dues.
He made nine appearances for Zamalek and did not score or provide an assist during those matches.
Following the termination of his contract with Zamalek, معالي joined Moroccan club اتحاد طنجة.
