Zamalek and Pyramids players briefed on 2026-27 football law changes

Gamal El-Ghandour, deputy chairman of the referees committee, has delivered a briefing to players and coaching and administrative staff from Zamalek and Pyramids on changes to the Laws of the Game that will take effect at the start of the 2026-27 season.

The Egyptian Football Association’s media centre said El-Ghandour is holding presentations for clubs to explain the amendments and outline how they will be applied in competitive matches.

El-Ghandour said the changes would have a significant impact on playing methods once they are officially introduced with the beginning of the new campaign.

“It is essential to raise the awareness of clubs’ coaching staffs and players about these changes, to make the referees’ work easier,” the deputy chairman of the referees committee said.

He added that the presentations were being held in response to requests from clubs.

El Gouna FC were the first club to receive a presentation from El-Ghandour on the updated laws. He is expected to continue visiting clubs in the coming period, depending on correspondence from teams that wish to receive a briefing.

The sessions are intended to ensure that players, coaches and administrators understand the amendments before the new season begins, with Zamalek and Pyramids among the sides preparing for the opening round of the 2026-27 league campaign.

Zamalek will begin their league schedule against Al Ittihad Alexandria on Friday, 21 August. The match is scheduled to kick off at 20:00 at Cairo Stadium.

Pyramids will start their campaign against Ghazl El Mahalla on Saturday, 22 August, with the match also due to begin at 20:00 in Mahalla.

Zamalek enter the new season as defending league champions after winning the title last season for the 15th time in their history.

The Egyptian Football Association’s programme of club briefings comes ahead of the formal implementation of the law changes. El-Ghandour will continue to explain the amendments to other clubs that make requests, allowing them to prepare their squads and technical staff for the new requirements before competitive fixtures begin.
