Morocco international Youssef En-Nesyri linked with early Al-Ittihad exit
Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri could leave Al-Ittihad only months after joining the Saudi club, with reports suggesting the Jeddah side are considering parting ways with the forward during the upcoming transfer window.
En-Nesyri arrived in Saudi Arabia in February following his move from Fenerbahçe, where he was recruited to strengthen Al-Ittihad’s attacking options after the departure of French striker Karim Benzema.
The Moroccan international joined the club in a deal reportedly valued at around €15 million and was expected to become a central figure in the team’s attack.
However, despite moments of promise, the 28-year-old has reportedly struggled to fully convince club officials and observers during his short spell in Saudi football.
According to reports from Saudi media, Al-Ittihad’s management believe his performances have not entirely matched the club’s ambitions.
The Atlas Lions forward made 17 appearances for the club and scored eight goals, statistics that would ordinarily represent a respectable return for a striker adapting to a new environment.
Nevertheless, expectations surrounding his arrival appear to have been significantly higher given both his transfer fee and reputation.
Reports also indicate that concerns extend beyond numbers alone. Several local observers have pointed to difficulties adapting to the tactical system and style of play implemented by the coaching staff.
His playing profile is reportedly viewed as not entirely suited to the current structure of the team.
As a result, Al-Ittihad are believed to have already begun exploring other attacking options ahead of next season. Club officials are reportedly targeting an internationally recognised striker capable of leading the attack as the team looks to strengthen further during the summer transfer window.
That situation has increased speculation surrounding En-Nesyri’s future, despite the fact he only joined the club a few months ago. An early departure is now being viewed as a realistic possibility if Al-Ittihad proceed with plans to reshape their forward line.
The coming weeks are expected to clarify whether the Moroccan striker remains part of the club’s long-term project or becomes one of the notable names linked with a move during the summer transfer period.
