Young Africans appoint Manqoba Mngqithi as new head coach
Young Africans SC have confirmed Manqoba Mngqithi as their new head coach, ushering in a fresh chapter for the Tanzanian champions ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The South African tactician replaces Pedro Goncalves, who was dismissed in May even though the team was leading the Tanzania Premier League at the time. Under interim bosses Abdihamid Moalin and Patrick Mabedi, Yanga still went on to clinch the title, edging rivals Simba SC by two points.
Mngqithi, 55, arrives with a strong reputation from his successful spells in South Africa, most notably with Mamelodi Sundowns, where he collected multiple Premier Soccer League titles.
He returns to the dugout after leaving Golden Arrows at the end of his contract in June, now tasked with turning Yanga’s domestic dominance into sustained success on the continent. The club welcomed him with the message, “Karibu Young Africans SC Kocha Mkuu MANQOBA MNGQITHI 𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐊𝐈 𝐍𝐀 𝐊𝐈𝐌𝐀,” on their official social media platforms.
With a proven track record in building competitive sides, Mngqithi is expected to bring tactical structure and continuity as Young Africans aim for deeper CAF competition runs while defending their league crown.
