Youcef Belaïli challenges MC Alger to produce contract amid transfer dispute
Algerian international Youcef Belaïli has broken his silence over the controversy surrounding his proposed move involving MC Alger, challenging the club to make public any contract it claims he signed.
Belaïli has also warned that he could release private messages and voice recordings if the dispute continues, as uncertainty grows over his contractual situation.
“If there is a contract I signed with MC Alger, it must be made public. Stop creating problems, otherwise I will reveal the messages and voice recordings I have,” Belaïli said.
The winger insists that the contract currently held by MC Alger has expired and called on defender Djamel Benlamri to produce evidence if the club maintains that he remains bound by an agreement.
“If you have a contract, let Djamel Benlamri present it. The contract held by MC Alger has expired,” he added.
The dispute comes as Belaïli’s future remains the subject of intense discussion, with the player seeking clarity over where he will continue his career.
Belaïli also revealed that he has been advised by his lawyer that the club which successfully takes the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and secures the cancellation of the sanction will be the club he represents.
“My lawyer told me that the club that submits its case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to have the sanction cancelled is the club I will play for,” he said.
According to Belaïli, he had already informed the president of MC Alger about his position, but says the response he received was brief.
“I informed the president of MC Alger, and his response was: ‘May God make it easy for you,’” he revealed.
The Algerian forward also pointed to his previous experience with Espérance as an example of how the legal situation could be resolved.
“Espérance were the ones who went to CAS, and the next day the sanction was cancelled,” Belaïli said.
Belaïli’s comments add another layer to an increasingly complicated situation involving his former and potential clubs. The player is clearly seeking a resolution that would allow him to determine his next destination without further contractual or disciplinary complications.
MC Alger had previously been linked with Belaïli, who spent the 2023-24 season at the Algerian club before returning to Espérance de Tunis. He has since been involved in discussions over his future, with the contractual dispute now becoming a key factor in determining his next move.
The latest comments from the Algeria international suggest the matter could yet move into the legal arena if the parties fail to reach an agreement.
For now, Belaïli’s position is that any contract MC Alger claims to hold should be produced publicly, while the player appears prepared to use the evidence in his possession if the dispute escalates.
The situation is therefore likely to remain closely watched, particularly with the CAS potentially playing a decisive role in determining Belaïli’s eligibility and future club.
