World Cup 2026: Croatia clash will be tough and intense – Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz
Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz is expecting a difficult and highly intense encounter ahead of the Black Stars’ final Group L fixture against Croatia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The four-time African champions will take on the 2018 World Cup finalists on Saturday night in Philadelphia.
Ghana currently occupy second place in the group with four points, level with leaders England, who sit top on goal difference, while Croatia are third with three points heading into the decisive round of matches.
Speaking ahead of the crucial showdown, the former Real Madrid tactician acknowledged Croatia’s quality and wealth of experience but expressed confidence in his team’s readiness and mentality.
“Another tough game lies ahead of us against a great Croatian team filled with talented and experienced players. Of course, it will be a difficult and intense contest for both sides, but at the end of the day, I believe it will also provide plenty of excitement and entertainment for everyone watching.
“With the inspiration and determination of our players, I hope we will be able to express ourselves well on the pitch. If we can play our football the way we want, I am confident we will move closer to our objective, which is to fight for the win. We are ready for tomorrow’s match,” he said.
A win for Ghana would guarantee qualification to the Round of 32 and could also see the Black Stars finish top of the group, depending on the outcome of England’s final match. Queiroz’s side will be aiming to maintain their impressive performances and continue their push for a deep run at the tournament.
