Karim Coulibaly to leave Werder Bremen

SV Werder Bremen are reportedly preparing for a major transfer windfall involving highly rated teenager Karim Coulibaly, amid growing interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

According to SPORT BILD, elite sides including Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea FC, and Newcastle United are closely monitoring the 18-year-old centre-back, who has rapidly emerged as one of the most promising defensive talents in Germany.

Werder Bremen are said to be expecting a significant offer during the summer transfer window, with discussions already suggesting a fee in the region of €30 million or more for the young defender.

The situation also carries an unexpected benefit for Hamburger SV, where Coulibaly spent part of his youth development before joining Bremen on a free transfer. Under FIFA training compensation rules, HSV is entitled to a percentage of any future transfer fee due to his development period at the club.

Reports indicate that HSV could receive around €600,000 if Coulibaly is sold for the expected €30 million valuation, as his six years of training in Hamburg are factored into the compensation structure.

With interest continuing to build across Europe, Coulibaly’s future is shaping up to be one of the more closely watched transfer stories of the summer, with both Bremen and his former club potentially benefiting from a major deal.
